Traditional Ayurvedic Foot Massage

This Traditional Ayurvedic Foot Massage is a very powerful full body massage. During a massage and treatment session a special tri-doshic medicinal oil is first applied all over the body. The body is then thoroughly massaged by the practitioner with her feet. If required, treatments (body manipulations) are administered during the massage. At the end of the session, the head and face are massaged using another special type of oil. Each session lasts about 90 minutes.

The massage is based on a Marma and Nadi System (system of energy points and pathways). The sequence of strokes used in the massage is very precise. It has been developed over generations. In this unique body massage the actual strokes go all the way from your fingers, along your arms, body and legs to your toes. The massage is based on a '5 parts and 8 sides' principle. The 5 parts to the massage are

In this Traditional Ayurvedic Treatment all aspects of the body are fully massaged. This can improve the flexibility of and the circulation in the body, relax the muscles, remove waste and blockages, supply the cells with Prana (life energy) and balance the Doshas. Receiving this massage regularly can give a wide range of long lasting benefits. It can help to alleviate common aliments such as back pain, joint problems, muscle pain, circulation problems, high/low blood pressure, varicose veins, stress, tension and headaches

In Indian Ayurvedic Centres, this massage is often administered on 7 consecutive days. This is a very intense experience and nothing much else can be done by the 'patient' during this period! In England, I have found that 7 massages taken over a period of 3 weeks is very effective. Alternatively, a massage taken every 2-3 weeks can also be greatly beneficial.

Each Traditional Ayurvedic Foot Massage Costs £50 for a 90 minute Session

From 1st March 2012, £55.

After the massage it is also possible to take a Steam Bath. Medicated oils and heat are the two main treatment media employed in Ayurveda. However, the head and body are not usually heated together, hence the use of a steam box where the head protrudes out of the top of the box. A steam bath taken after a massage assists in deeper absorption of the medicinal oil into the body as well as being relaxing and cleansing.

10 minutes after a Massage : £5 extra
